Cooling Snacks for Hot Summer Days

Hot summer days can be a real drain on energy levels. Yet, having the right cooling snack to hand can give the whole body a burst of energy. Below are several amazing ideas for quick and easy snacks that will work wonders at cooling down these hot days and nights.

Frozen Grapes

Such a simple idea, yet incredibly refreshing and delightfully pretty. All that is required for these cooling snacks is to give a bunch of grapes a quick wash and pop them into the freezer for at least an hour.

A bunch of red and a bunch of green grapes are the ideal choices. The slightly frosted exterior makes them look truly appealing and suddenly the humble grape takes on a texture and taste that is very similar to frozen yogurt or ice cream. Incredibly refreshing, a very pretty snack to serve to guests, and even provides one of that all-important five-a-day.

Fruit Kebabs

Of course, fruit salad is a well-known cooling snack for hot weather, however, if you want to put a more modern and appealing twist on the traditional favorite, why not try making up fruit kebabs? Be sure to make them lovely and colorful by choosing vibrant fruits, such as chunks of watermelon, kiwi, strawberries, and grapes. These fruit kebabs can be prepared in the morning and kept in the fridge meaning that a healthy and refreshing snack is at hand all day long.

Homemade Mint And Cucumber Tomato Sandwiches

Mint is such a flavorsome herb, however, when it is paired with cool refreshing cucumber and ripe, juicy tomato, it really does take on a whole new level of flavor. Choose healthy, wholegrain bread and prepare the open sandwich straight from the fridge to keep it cool and refreshing. This is a great snack for times when something substantial is required, yet it still needs to feel cooling and light.

Hummus And Veggie Sticks

An all-time favorite for all the right reasons. Hummus is the perfect accompaniment to light and cooling vegetable sticks, yet the combination can be very filling. Choose a variety of tasty vegetables, such as carrots, peppers, broccoli, cucumber, and even pea shoots. Keep them in the fridge until you are ready to serve. This can provide a wonderful platter for guests or a tasty and cooling treat to enjoy alone.

Homemade Lemonade

Sometimes, when the weather is scorching and exhaustion is kicking in, there is nothing quite like a long cool refreshing drink to perk you up. That is where homemade lemonade comes in. The typical ingredients are simple; usually just lemons, sugar, and sparkling water. You’ll need to prepare a syrup first using the water, zest and sugar, once it’s boiling add the lemon juice, and get it chilled as quickly as you can. Of course, be sure to serve it in a pretty glass jug packed with ice, sliced lemons, and even a few sprigs of mint.

Indeed, when the weather is hot it can be hard to eat the right snacks to give the energy boost that is needed. However, often it is simply down to having a few good ideas and being prepared. We hope that the above ideas will have you snacking your way to feeling cool, refreshed, and rejuvenated!
